Calgary-based defence technology company Tacteris Systems Inc. has successfully completed a landmark evaluation of its advanced command and control platform, C2ADO (Command and Control for Adaptive Dispersed Operations), under the Innovative Solutions Canada (ISC) Testing Stream, in collaboration with the Canadian Army Land Warfare Centre (CALWC).
Tested at the Canadian Army Simulation Centre in CFB Kingston from August 6–9, 2024, the C2ADO system exceeded expectations across all evaluation criteria. Designed for resilient, multi-user planning in austere, disconnected, and bandwidth-limited environments, the system demonstrated clear advantages over current baseline technologies in speed, usability, interoperability, and mobility. “C2ADO represents a generational leap in how Canadian Forces can plan and adapt in the field,” said Sundeep Kharey, Vice President of Business Development at Tacteris. “This test demonstrates that the future of command and control lies in enabling collaborative, distributed planning—even when bandwidth is limited. C2ADO gives operators that capability, without the complexity.” Highlights:
C2ADO simplifies planning by working on low-bandwidth, consumer-grade hardware, reducing the burden on deployed staff in tough environments. The Army is now exploring further real-time trials at training colleges, brigade HQs, and upcoming operations. New features like better timelines, evolving ORBATs, and easier order generation are already in development. “This is the kind of Canadian innovation our soldiers need—a lightweight, intuitive system built for how wars are actually fought today,” said Kharey. “In Ukraine, success depends on dispersed teams making fast, coordinated decisions under constant pressure. C2ADO provides that edge—even with limited bandwidth and no infrastructure.” C2ADO was developed and tested through the Government of Canada’s Innovative Solutions Canada (ISC) program, which supports cutting-edge tech from Canadian SMEs.
